The first funds raised by the One Name One Child record attempt were used to save seven abandoned children from Kawangware district in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. Thanks to our donors, these children found a new home, bed, food, clothes and school in the Children`s Garden center, which is being supported by One Name One Child funding. We thank you for giving these children a chance for a new future.
I have travelled round most corners of the world and I have seen how modestly people live in the majority of countries. We, "The Developed", by that I mean residents of OECD countries, have the impression that our standard of living is somehow "normal". Yet, we represent only about 17-18perc of the world‘s population. I think, that in the future, we will have to cut back on our demands for comfort, because our consumer lifestyle is certainly unsustainable.
